A Lovely Hilltop Town
Approximately 55 nautical miles South of the port of Cascais is the pretty little town of Sines. We headed to Sines to try to cut the voyage to the Algarve into two legs, we were not expecting Sines to be as beautiful as it is.
Such a wonderful little town, perched nicely on the top of a hill. Sines is a town with an ancient fortress built to keep out pirates and the like in days of old. Now the town is lovely and the people extremely friendly. The marina is small and tucked away behind the Southern inner sea wall. A bit of a walk, including the climb, up to the town but well worth the effort.
We stopped here on the way down to the Mediterranean and also on the way back from the Azores some 7 years later.
