When we arrived in Barbate late 2004, it was not a fully finished marina (I believe that things have changed since our time there but cannot be certain). The toilet block was the only thing operational and even that left much to be desired. There were no shops or chandlers and to walk to the small town was quite a treck. So all in all not too good, but there were a number of other yachts berthed there and we had a good time socially between us. We stayed in Barbate until a weather window presented itself and we were able to set out to pass Tarrifa and head up into Gibraltar. We had met the crew of Io in Rota and they too spent the time in Barbate.
