SARDINIA - ITALY

Mixed blessings with Sardinia.  We called into Porto Conte in the Northwest of the island (near to Alghero) first where unfortunately our dinghy and outboard motor was stolen.  Alghero is a beautiful place and the anchorage in Porto Conte, one of the largest and shallowest we have come across.  From here we headed round the North end of the island, calling in at Stintino (small harbour but lovely place).  Our next call in Sardinia was the Maddalena Islands on the Northeast coast.  Wonderful islands but be careful, during the season the place is full of motor boats of all sizes, steaming along at up to 30 knots (in convoy), so the seas get pretty big in their wash.
On our return in 2007 we called into the South of the island and particularly loved Cagliari and the little marina of  Porto di Marina Piccola.
